Barack Obama "Hope" Poster

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Barack Obama "Hope" poster is an image of Barack Obama designed by artist Shepard Fairey, which was widely described as iconic and became synonymous with the 2008 Obama presidential campaign. It consists of a stylized stencil portrait of Obama in solid red, white and (pastel and dark) blue, with the word "progress", "hope", or "change" below. The design was created in one day and printed first as a poster. Fairey sold 350 of the posters on the street immediately after printing them. It was then more widely distributed both as a digital image and other paraphernalia during the 2008 election season, initially independently but with the approval of the official Obama campaign. The image became one of the most widely recognized symbols of Obama''s campaign message, spawning many variations and imitations, including some commissioned by the Obama campaign. This led The Guardian''s Laura Barton to proclaim that the image "acquired the kind of instant recognition of Jim Fitzpatrick''s Che Guevara poster, and is surely set to grace T-shirts, coffee mugs and the walls of student bedrooms in the years to come."

Presidential Rhetoric
68,00 € *
ggf. zzgl. Versand

The rhetorical styles of Presidents Clinton and Obama, when communicating across the interface of race, are analyzed using rhetorical theory. Clinton s eight presidential addresses to the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Annual Dinner are studied using the rhetoric of inclusion which embodies the concepts of identification and authority. His rhetorical style is shown to ensure the loyalty of the CBC. Obama s use of the rhetoric of hope reaches out to all of America and successfully circumvents the consideration of his race. The rhetoric of hope embraces the appeals of ethos, logos and pathos, and rhetorical devices that rely on repetition. Six of Obama s speeches - keynote address at the 2004 DNC, Iowa concession speech, race relations speech, acceptance speech, inauguration speech and address to the AMA - are critically analyzed using the rhetoric of hope. The analysis of the two presidents rhetoric illustrates how the challenge of interracial communication can be skillfully handled. The book should be especially useful to professionals in the Communications and Speechwriting fields, or anyone else who may be faced with the challenge of interracial communication.
